United States Treasuries are also known as “government securities”. They are one of the most secure and liquid securities in the financial markets. Treasuries are secured by the full faith and credit of the United States government and are generally purchased to provide safety and bring minimal risk to investors.
U.S. Treasuries are issued to help operate the United States government. One of the major advantages of U.S. Treasuries will be that they are exempt from state and local taxes.
We offer the following:
- Treasury Bills (T-Bills) – short-term Treasury Bills – A U.S. government debt security with a maturity of less than one year. T-bills do not pay a fixed interest rate. They are issued through a competitive bidding process at a discount from par.
- Treasury Notes (T-Notes) – medium-term
Treasury Notes – A marketable, fixed-interest rate U.S. government debt security with a maturity between one and 10 years.
- Treasury Bonds (T-Bonds) – long-term
Treasury Bonds – A marketable, fixed-interest U.S. government debt security with a maturity of more than 10 years. Treasury bonds are usually issued with a minimum denomination of $1,000.
Treasuries are used mostly as safe havens to investors, especially when the markets head in a negative direction. The fact these debt instruments offer very low risk of default means the yield to investors are relatively low.
